Privacy Policy

Last updated: May 28, 2026

Privacy at PaycheckCalc is shaped by what the site actually does. The calculator runs entirely in your browser, with no backend, no database, and no API that receives salary inputs. Page views are measured in aggregate by Vercel Analytics, which is privacy-friendly and does not build individual profiles. Google AdSense serves display ads on calculator and content pages (never on the homepage) and may set advertising cookies under Google's own policies. The legal sections below cover the formal terms: data collection categories, cookie types, advertising disclosures, GDPR and CCPA rights, data retention, children's privacy, and how to contact us with a privacy question.

1. Overview

PaycheckCalc is operated by Barron Hansen, doing business as SquarePeg Ideas. The site is a free, browser-based paycheck and tax estimation tool. This policy explains what data is collected, how it is used, and what choices you have.

2. Information We Collect

We collect information from three sources:

  • Calculator inputs: Salary, filing status, state selection, and deduction inputs are stored in your browser using localStorage so the calculator can remember your last session. This data stays on your device and is never transmitted to our servers.
  • Aggregate usage data: Vercel Analytics collects aggregate page views and performance data. It does not build individual user profiles or track users across sites.
  • Advertising data: Third-party advertising partners, such as Google AdSense, may collect data through cookies and similar technologies. This is described in the Advertising section below.

3. Cookies and Tracking Technologies

Cookies are small text files a website places on your device to store preferences or recognize your browser on future visits. This site does not use first-party tracking cookies. Third-party services (advertising and analytics) may place their own cookies when you visit.

Categories that may be present:

  • Strictly necessary: Cookies required for basic site functionality.
  • Analytics: Cookies used to measure aggregate traffic and performance.
  • Advertising and targeting: Cookies placed by ad networks to serve relevant ads based on your browsing activity.

You can control or disable cookies through your browser settings. Disabling advertising cookies may result in less relevant ads rather than no ads.

4. Advertising

This site displays ads served by Google AdSense and may display ads from other third-party ad networks.

Google and its partners use cookies to serve ads based on your prior visits to this site and other sites on the internet.

You may opt out of personalized advertising via Google's Ads Settings or optout.aboutads.info (Digital Advertising Alliance).

This site participates in the Google EU User Consent Policy and uses a consent management platform to collect consent from users in the European Economic Area before serving personalized ads.

5. Analytics

Vercel Analytics is used to measure aggregate page views and performance. It is designed to be privacy-friendly and does not use cross-site tracking cookies or build individual user profiles. No personally identifiable information is collected by Vercel Analytics.

Frequently asked questions

What data does PaycheckCalc collect?
PaycheckCalc collects aggregate page-view and performance data through Vercel Analytics. It does not collect personal identifiers, build user profiles, or correlate calculator inputs to individual visitors. Google AdSense and other ad partners may collect advertising data through their own cookies on calculator and content pages, governed by their own privacy policies.
Does my salary or calculator input get sent to a server?
No. The calculator runs entirely in your browser and the site has no backend that receives salary, filing status, state, or deduction inputs. Your most recent session is remembered via browser localStorage on your device only. Clearing your browser's site data for paychecktakehomecalculator.com wipes those values. Nothing about your inputs is transmitted to PaycheckCalc.
Does PaycheckCalc use cookies?
PaycheckCalc itself sets no first-party tracking cookies. Vercel Analytics is cookie-free. Third-party services do set cookies: Google AdSense places advertising cookies on calculator and content pages (not on the homepage), and EU and UK users see a consent prompt before personalized ads load. You can opt out via Google Ads Settings or your browser controls.
How can I contact you about privacy?
Email hello@paychecktakehomecalculator.com for any privacy question, GDPR or CCPA request, data-deletion request, or concern about advertising behavior. Please include enough detail to act on the request: jurisdiction, the specific data category in question, and the contact email you want us to reply to. Replies usually land within a few business days.
